Die Erfolgsgeschichte eines jungen Mannes

The Third YouTube Founder has roots in Bangladesh:
Jawed Karim a 27 years old Student, son of a Bangladesh-German parents hit an internet jackpot first in 2002 when PayPal, the online payment company he had joined early on, was bought by eBay for $1.5 billion. He reportedly earned a few millions. On Monday, just 4 days before the announcement of winning Nobel Peace Prize for Prof. Yunus, he got lucky again. Jawed Karim is the third of the three founders of the video site YouTube, which Google has agreed to buy for $1.65 billion. Jawed Karim with Chad Hurley and Steven Chen, founded the YouTube video sharing website in 2005. Karim uploaded YouTube's first video when they launched the website on April 23rd 2005. It features him in the zoo.

His father is Bangladeshi, Naimul Karim, a researcher at 3M and his mother German, Christine Karim, a research assistant professor of biochemistry at the University of Minnesota.. He grew up in Germany, but graduated from Central High School (Saint Paul, Minnesota), and went on to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He graduated with a degree in computer science at Stanford University. He is now working on a master’s degree at Stanford.

Den Ursprung der Grameen Bank kann man bis ins Jahr 1976 zurückverfolgen, als Prof. Muhammed Yunus, Leiter des "Rural Economics Program" an der Universität von Chittagong, ein Forschungsprogramm zur Schaffung eines speziellen Kreditsystems ins Leben rief.
